Hi there! My name is Irene and I am a native English speaker from the California, US. I have been teaching English since 2019 to adults online. I have a BA in International Relations. Before teaching English as a foreign language, I was a tutor of history and English literature to US high school and university students.

My classes are always planned and adjusted to my student’s needs. For example, for conversational classes I will provide you with the topic or the language context (a doctor's visit, talking to a landlord, etc) before the lesson, and provide you with an article or other material to prepare. In IELTS prep lessons, we will examine the exam tasks to understand them, before using example materials (reading passages, writing and speaking prompts, audio clips) to practice the response exercises.

I started my teaching journey back in 2019. I've taught adults from around the world, but specialized in teaching students from Latin America and the post-Soviet countries, including many immigrants to the United States.

Apart from teaching, I’m a novel reviewer for the Historical Novel Society and I have just begun drafting my own fantasy novel, which I am extremely excited about!
