My name is Matthew Lawson. I'm a native English teacher; born and raised in Manchester and currently working from London. I am Cambridge CELTA-qualified and have five years' teaching experience in the classroom and online. I have taught in the UK (Oxford International and Dusemond Studies), Spain (TECS English Academy, Andalucía) and Poland (Empik/Profi-Lingua school, Gdynia). My students have ranged from 3 - 70 years old, from absolute beginner to proficiency level.
I base my methodology on the exclusive use of English from the first day, adapting at all times to the level of the student. I use resources from all kinds of visual and audio media for my lessons and I offer the full range of classes – grammar, vocabulary, exam preparation, English aimed at specific fields of work or study (engineering, science, design, etc.) and, of course, conversation classes! As well as holding a CELTA teaching qualification, I hold a degree in Theatre, an HND in Performing Arts and an A-level in English Literature – I love my language and one of my strengths is being able to train students how to use English in the most appropriate way; how we natives speak to each other and why we use the language that we do.
In addition to English, I speak a little Spanish. I really like travelling, music, documentaries, history, literature, learning new things about the world and having interesting conversations…but above all, my great passion is teaching English!
