I am currently studying at the University Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning English as a Foreign/Second Language at the University Rovira and Virgili. With five years of teaching experience, a BA in English language and literature, and an internship at Lestonnac l'Ensenyança de Tarragona, which has allowed me to understand the Spanish school system, I will be a good fit for English Tarragona.
During my BA, I was able to develop a balanced approach to language in between developing linguist and culture teaching skills. Now, as part of my MA studies, I am writing a research thesis paper on the influence of teaching culture in the classroom. I have had the opportunity to theoretically explore teaching techniques and methods in an out-of-university context as a teacher and assistant at World Youth Leaders in English Teaching at American Councils for International Education in Washington, DC.
The theoretical knowledge I gained through formal and non-formal education was a basis in my English teaching approach first at language academy “Dunja” and after as a teacher and coordinator for American Councils, Belgrade, programs. At “Dunja,” I began by teaching children ages 5-10 and was promoted to teaching adults, including those preparing for the FCE Cambridge exam and the TOEFL exam. At the American Councils, apart from teaching, I organized educational events including a Polyglot style Café and other language exchange opportunities with the local Erasmus+ office.
Lastly, doing an internship at Lestonnac l'Ensenyança de Tarragona has been an enjoyable opportunity for growth as I needed to gain a better understanding of the Spanish and Catalan language systems and competencies for working with larger groups of students.
