I've worked as a teacher/counselor (after school classes and summer camps) for more than a decade and as a High School teacher for 3 years in the USA. During all this time I have not only been able to develop my communication skills, I've also learned that different students learn in different ways.
For this reason, during the last few years I've been training in "UDL" (Universal Design Learning). This methodology focuses on offering students different materials to help them learn the same topic. The student will be the one to choose how he/she wants to learn and develop his/her skills. The teacher (expert) will be an assistant/guide to make sure that the outcome is the best possible.
In addition, to contribute to the student's motivation for the subject, the goal of each topic/unit will be to create a project that motivates the student and that meets all the requirements established at the beginning of the unit. Different methodologies such as "PBL" (Project Based Learning) indicate that learning will be more significant if the student is able to create something that demonstrates his/her learning through a topic that interests him/her (food, sports, travel, etc.).
In conclusion, the classes will be as the student wants them to be. The student will choose, with the teacher's advice and help, what he/she wants to learn and how he/she wants to learn it. Thanks to this, you will be able to develop the four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing). The only requirement is the willingness to learn.
