My methodology is based on following the path that best suits the student.
If the student is interested, for example, in introducing themselves to classical music, we would work on technical exercises, such as scales or arpeggios, as well as etudes or works designed for this purpose.
There would also be a portion of classical repertoire, while the student would be given the option to work on any type of music they wish.
These classes would also be accompanied by musical language lessons to begin familiarizing themselves with notes, intervals, scales, chords, and so on.
If the student wishes to learn a specific type of music other than classical, such as jazz, blues, or pop, the same methods would be applied, but tailored to these different types of music.
Even so, I am flexible in dividing the class however the student wishes, allowing us to focus solely on learning to play or to cover more ground by delving into the theory and practices behind music.
In my piano method, I would combine the classical teachings I have received, and which I find relevant, with touches of methods such as Hal Leonard, Bastien, or any other aspect I consider relevant.
My classes would be distributed, for example, as follows:
We would begin with a joint warm-up, and then we would do some technical exercises to accustom the hand. Articulation exercises played together with the teacher would also be included.
Afterwards, we could play a technical piece, such as an etude. Alternatively, we could dedicate part of the class to working on a musical aspect, such as scales, chords, and key degrees.
We would conclude by analyzing and playing a piece at the student's request.
To wrap up, I would clarify that I am available to the student to discuss the theoretical, practical, and thematic distribution of the classes.
