About my teaching style

I believe that the purpose of teaching English is to connect people all around the world, to get to know other places and cultures while paying attention to the learners’ feelings about the language and learning. In my classroom my goal is to create a comfortable and safe environment for students, providing optimal circumstances for developing their skills. I also rely on positive reinforcement to encourage students to practice and take risks. I share the opinion that relaxing and enjoying the process of learning is important too, not just the result. Using authentic material is crucial in the classroom, creating real life situations helping students stay motivated and focused. It depends on who we teach and what their goal is but the balance between speaking, reading, listening and writing is desired to be able to fully immerse in the other culture.
Another important element of my teaching style is using only the target language in the classroom. Having constant exposure to it and excluding communication in all other languages makes learning more effective, even if sometimes it seems a bit harder.
