In my classes we will look at where you are in your studies. From here we can outline the principles that are being used at this level. It’s important to understand the question and what is being asked. I am very good at explaining the problem in a way which is coherent and not purely symbolic. Maths can be challenging from this point of view because it is a type of language which is often ambiguous.
We will support the learning that goes on in class, by reviewing what has been taught that week. This provides an excellent way to learn and remember. This method also aligns with homework, I believe homework should be attempted independently of my lessons however I am happy to support because it’s better to understand the problems, rather than be stressed about them.
We will look at specific problems you find challenging. In preparation for exams we will practice papers and review the problems which are most difficult. Familiarisation of past exam papers is very important, with my calm and positive support you will gain confidence, begin to recognise the questions and therefore the methods you use to solve them. As more confidence is gained stress will decrease, because the belief in your own abilities will be high. Maths is an excellent subject to improve because it opens the doors to many possibilities in life. I personally benefited from tutoring during my GCSEs and A levels, achieving an A at A level meant I could go onto study Civil Engineering. I want to help young people who can potentially make a positive difference in the word.
