I always ensure that the students are motivated to have classes with me. If someone shows more interest in learning it would definitely be easier for him/her to understand the lessons in general. In class, I always begin with greetings and ask them about their experiences. With this, I can establish connection with the student and build rapport before the actual lesson begins. I can also gain some insights about his/her level through our conversation and plan out another strategies or lessons that might add up to his/her understanding in English. I also apply "metacognition" in my class, which means, I always ensure that I check not just the understanding of my student but also I am aware of my own's ideas and knowledge. I always put a smile in every lesson and put myself in someone else's shoes because as someone who is also learning another language, like Spanish, I understand how difficult it is to learn a new one.
Lastly, I believe that there are only two things that the students would likely remember: bad and good experiences, and I would like my class to be the latter.
