I was born and initially educated in Tenerife, Spain and latterly in the U.K.; consequently, I am fluent in both languages.. My passion for languages stems firstly from my family, as I was brought up in a bilingual environment, as well as from my experience of the Spanish and British culture whilst living in both countries. I therefore understand first-hand the benefits of promoting languages from a young age. I consider that this factor has made a positive impact when teaching, as I am keen to share this with pupils, allowing them to experience first-hand the advantages of learning a language as well as promoting an open perspective of different cultures.
In my previous position working as a Spanish Teacher in a school in the North West of England. I gained considerable experience in all fields of teaching Spanish at both KS3 and KS4. High quality teaching and learning is my focus; I strive to be the very best practitioner through continual pedagogy research and reflecting on my own teaching practice, as I feel it is of the utmost importance to continuously seek new techniques for teaching, in order to develop and improve my delivery and to ensure pupil progress is achieved.
I love creating engaging lessons which students not only enjoy but are engaged in and show progress. My ambition is for all students to become independent, confident learners with a focus on gaining secure learning. I teach to the ‘top’ in order to challenge pupils and provide them with opportunities to develop a range of skills and techniques.
I am very flexible when it comes to topics and any suggestions made by students. I like to get to know exactly what I can help my students with and create lessons to match their level and interests.
Being bilingual I wanted to make use of both of my languages and I have recently acquired my certificate in TEFL Level 5- This means that as well as Spanish I am also qualified to teach English as a Second language.
