English:

While studying my degree I also worked as a tutor online, with students from different backgrounds. People from the UK who wanted to learn Spanish but also people in Spain and south America who wanted to learn English.

When I finished my degree in 2021, I continued teaching online and traditional lessons one-to-one. Every time I get a new student, the first I do is asking what their level is. Sometimes they are not sure, so I have a list of basic questions prepared for them to answer. After I find out what their level is, then I plan our lessons.

With beginners I start from 0, we go from nouns, articles, adjectives, etc, to the most important verbs in present tenses. Thus, they would be able to make full sentences in less than 2 months.

With people who already has a better knowledge of the language, then we have conversations about any topic. During these lessons I correct their grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. If I see that the student needs to focus on something (for example, the past tenses), then we have a lesson about past tenses to practice.


Español:

Mientras estudiaba la carrera, también trabajé como tutora en línea, con estudiantes de diferentes países. Tanto personas del Reino Unido que querían aprender español, como personas de España y Sudamérica que querían aprender inglés.

Cuando termine la carrera en 2021, continué dando clases en línea y también a particulares en persona. Siempre que consigo un nuevo alumno, lo primero que hago es preguntarle por su nivel de español. Algunas veces no están seguros, y para esto tengo una lista con preguntas básicas. Después de sus respuestas, ya sé qué nivel tienen y puedo planificar las clases.

Con los principiantes, empezamos desde 0. Desde artículos, sustantivos, adjetivos hasta los verbos más importantes en presente. De este modo, en 2 meses son capaces de escribir y pronunciar frases enteras.

Con las personas que ya tienen un poco de nivel, entonces hago algo completamente diferente, tenemos conversaciones. Se elige un tema para hablar, así durante la conversación corrijo pronunciación, errores gramaticales, etc. Con estas conversaciones también me doy cuenta con qué necesita el alumno más ayuda. Por ejemplo, si en una conversación el alumno tiene problemas con el tiempo pasado, entonces preparo nuestra siguiente clase sobre los tiempos verbales en pasado.
