I graduated with an ‘English Language and Education’ degree from the University of Manchester as a valedictorian - first in my course with an outstanding academic achievement award and honours. Further, I will soon be finishing an advanced Master's program in Primary Education at Universidad de Complutense in Madrid, Spain and Sofia University, Bulgaria. All of this international exposure equips me with a diverse perspective and an understanding of various cultural nuances.
In my role as an English teacher at Pharos language schools in Sofia, where I guided children and adults in mastering English as a second language, I proved to be an invaluable member of the education team with a loyalty rate of above 85% in all the groups I taught. I believe this is because besides my skills as a teacher, I foster good parent-teacher relationships as well as student-teacher dynamics, with my pupils often describing me as friendly and approachable.
Further, at my part-time job as an English Tutor at MyTutor, I had to prepare disadvantaged secondary students for their A-levels. It was difficult to work in such an environment, however, it made me even more driven and decisive to ensure I am providing my students with the skills to continue their education despite their social circumstances.
These experiences have provided me with the opportunity to work on two opposite sides of Europe, making me highly adaptable with a deep understanding of diverse educational systems which motivates me to critically improve my teaching practices.
For me, teaching is a vocation and a demonstrated consistent guiding force in my education, career and lifestyle choices. My teaching philosophy revolves around cultivating a love for learning and a sense of curiosity. Moreover, I see joy as an essential component of the learning process.
