I have been a teacher since 2012. Although I have worked in other sectors, teaching is my vocation. In 2012 I started teaching general culture classes to adults. That year I also started my training as a Spanish teacher. In 2014 I completed the Instituto Cervantes course “Didáctica de ELE” which included an internship at the Instituto Cervantes in New York. Since that year I have taught Spanish in different study centres. Mainly to groups of students. Currently I give private Spanish classes for foreigners at all levels. I am a respectful and responsible person, as well as open-minded as I have had students of different nationalities.

Soy profesor desde el año 2012. Aunque trabajé en otros sectores, la enseñanza es mi vocación. En 2012 empecé impartiendo clases de cultura general a adultos. Ese año también comencé mi formación como profesor de español En el año 2014 finalicé el curso del Instituto Cervantes Didáctica de ELE el cual incluía la realización de prácticas en el Instituto Cervantes de Nueva York. A partir de ese año he impartido clases de español en diferentes centros de estudio. Principalmente a grupos de alumnos. Actualmente doy clases particulares de español para extranjeros en todos los niveles. Soy una persona respetuosa y responsable, así como de mente abierta dado que he tenido alumnos de diferentes nacionalidades.

My classes are student-centred. I believe that he/she should be the protagonist of the learning process. I empathise with the student because I have been a student before being a teacher. Albert Stein said ‘I never teach my pupils I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn’. Therefore, my first task is to interview the student to get to know him/her better and what he/she expects from a Spanish class. I believe that active learning is very important; that is, that the learner is involved. It is also relevant to start from the learner's own prior knowledge of the language. I believe that in the classroom I should be a facilitator; that is, a coach. As I mentioned before, the learner is at the centre of learning. In this way, I look for a relaxed and friendly atmosphere as a way of facilitating learning. The lessons have a practical orientation. The approach is purely communicative, because the learner mainly wants to communicate with other people. Another element I attach importance to is culture. It is inherent in learning a language. So it is also reflected in my classes. I like to use different resources, especially audiovisual ones.

Mis clases están centradas en el alumno/a. Creo que él/ella debe ser el protagonista del aprendizaje. Empatizo con el alumno/a porque antes que profesor he sido alumno. Albert Stein decía “Yo no enseño a mis alumnos: solo les proporciono las condiciones en las que puedan aprender”. Por esto, mi primera tarea es hacer una entrevista al alumno para conocerle mejor y que es lo que espera de una clase de español. Considero que es muy importante el aprendizaje activo; esto es, que el alumno/a se involucre. Es relevante también partir del conocimiento previo del idioma del propio/a alumno/a. Creo que en las clases debo ser un facilitador; esto es, un orientador. Como mencioné antes, el alumno/a está en el centro del aprendizaje. De este modo busco un ambiente distendido y cordial como forma precisamente de facilitar el aprendizaje. Las clases tienen una orientación práctica. El enfoque es netamente comunicativo, porque el alumno/a desea principalmente comunicarse con otras personas. Otro elemento al que le doy relevancia es a la cultura. Es inherente al aprendizaje de un idioma. Así que también se plasma en mis clases. Me gusta utilizar diferentes recursos, sobre todo, audiovisuales.
