Patricia Conesa Pascual

I am a native Spanish young professional and have got a native English level. From a young age, I’ve had a deep passion for languages as it enabled me to explore and understand different cultures. When teaching my students, I believe building a foundation around oral communication has the greatest impact on their learning. Despite being a foreign language student, I used to lack confidence when it came to conversing and holding conversations. It goes without saying that being grammatically sound is essential to mastering a language. However, this can be done in a multitude of ways and my experiences have taught me that interacting with students through conversations and interactive activities is far more engaging and drives greater results.

I have studied a Combined Honours degree in Media and Communication and Portuguese at Newcastle University (2:1). I am I spent five months of my gap year volunteering in a project that cares about children’s education and health in Guatemala. I Taught English and dance lessons to children from 6 to 18 years old. Working with children helped me understand how important it is to make sure children obtain the necessary tools so they make a positive impact in tomorrow’s world. I believe that a language spoken worldwide such as English is definitely one of them.
I have also taught particular lessons (mostly conversational classes) for the past 5 years whilst traveling and studying for my degree at Newcastle University, both in English and Spanish to kids, teenagers, and adults. I’ve never perceived teaching being an extracurricular activity, it’s an intrinsic part of who I am. At each stage of my life, whether it be volunteering in Guatemala or at university in England, I always ensured I could allocate time in my week to share my knowledge with those who are keen to listen.
