R. Fortunato

Rita Fortunato is a contemporary artist. Born in Venezuela, her passion for painting emerged from her introduction to fine art while studying Interior Design at the Art Institute of Houston, Texas. Since then, she has expanded her practice and understanding of different artistic styles, techniques and mediums via specialized art workshops and one-on-one sessions with renowned international artists around the world including London, Spain, Australia, Italy and the USA.

As an artist, Fortunato draws her inspiration and ideas from a life of constant travel and a deliberate and deep engagement with the locales, people, philosophy and culture of the cities and countries she spends extended periods of time in. Her creativity draws on the energies of the local art communities and practices, in pursuit of which she attends specialized art courses taught by famed local and international artists. Her bold and colorful works of art on canvas and her sculptures are a translation of her interior emotions and imaginations via the essences of the cultures she is steeped in.

Fortunato’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including Barcelona, Berlin, Milan, Padua, Perth, Rome and Sicily. Her paintings have won international awards in Germany, Italy, Spain and the United States. Art Curator & Critic, Dott. Salvatore Russo, in describing her work, says that “the rainbows of light traced by the artist’s skilled hand travel between abstractionism and new expressionism.” Even as she continues to absorb herself in cultures around the world, Fortunato welcomes all art lovers and connoisseurs to her open studio to enrich the emotional dialogue that she engages in with her art.
