I've been teaching English online for over seven years and have come to realize that the best learning happens naturally. I customize each class to each student, taking into account their abilities and interests. I prefer to use activities and games, but am willing to use textbooks and more traditional methodology upon request. I have a degree in linguistics and also teach English as a second language in university courses, in addition to my online classes.

Learning happens best when it is relevant to the student and will be used in their daily lives. Learning is further enhanced by being interesting, fun, or engaging for the student. I seek to make all of my classes useful, interesting, and fun for my students, regardless of their level.

One thing that is unique about my classes is that I frequently use games to teach English. Games and activities can be adjusted for all ages, and are vital for learning English, just as practice is vital for learning to drive a car - the instruction manual can teach you a lot of things, but it cannot teach you to drive - creating a context for using English is a vital part of mastering it.

In addition to English, I also tutor Spanish and a variety of other topics, including philosophy, theology, astronomy, scientific experimental methods, writing, speech preparation, debate, logic, and many other related topics.
