I firmly believe in a personalized approach to teaching. Before taking on a new student, it is important to conduct an assessment test to identify their current level and areas for improvement. Based on the student's needs and preferences, we will create a tailored learning plan together.

I highly discourage using free conversation as the sole method of learning. Speaking practice and free conversation are not the same. While speaking practice focuses on using specific structures or target vocabulary to help students retain what they’ve learned, free conversation often only allows students to use language they are already comfortable with, or worse, to reinforce fossilized mistakes. Therefore, if you’re simply looking to discuss random topics during class, we may not be a good fit.

That being said, this does not mean your classes can’t focus on speaking skills. Quite the opposite, you are expected to do 80 percent of the talking. However, it is essential to approach each class with a clear goal in mind to ensure that you actually learn something from it.

Mastering a language requires attention to all areas of language acquisition. I often have students who believe they struggle with listening, but more often than not, the real issue is pronunciation. Mispronouncing words can make it difficult to understand them when they are spoken correctly. Therefore, it is crucial to identify the areas where a student is struggling and find appropriate tools to address those difficulties. Similarly, when students think their only problem is speaking, it often turns out that they need to expand their vocabulary and master grammatical structures.

My students are provided with all the necessary materials for classes. Each class lasts 45 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes for preparation and homework review. After each session, students receive class notes, including all relevant corrections and new vocabulary.
