Sofia Fernandez

Hello, my name is Sofia, and I’d be delighted to be your Communication Coach.
I’d like to share a bit about myself. I have 24 years of corporate experience, mainly in a call centre and a multinational bank. During my career, I’ve served as a culture and communication coach, as well as an organisational development trainer. After relocating to Spain, I observed a significant demand for English tutoring, which inspired me to transition into teaching full-time. To ensure I am well-equipped for this role, I have recently earned certifications in TESOL, TEAL, TEYL, and TEOL.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from various nationalities. The most significant part of my experience comes from 8 years of working with Americans and 14 years with colleagues from the UK, including individuals from Ireland, England, and Scotland—you name it. This extensive exposure to different cultures has made me keenly aware of how cultural differences are profoundly influenced by the language and expressions each group uses.

Each culture has its distinct communication style, it is crucial to familiarise ourselves with the specific terminologies they use to avoid misunderstandings. A single word can convey different meanings depending on where you are and who you are speaking with.
